The University of Arizona College of Engineering announced a 28% year-over-year increase in research spending at the 2025 Celebration of Success in the Civil Engineering Courtyard on Oct. 22. Over the past six years, the college has grown its research expenditures by 160%, said Craig M. Berge Dean David W. Hahn.

Among the contributors to this growth were multiyear government-funded centers and collaborations. The Arizona Transportation Institute, a collaboration between U of A, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University led by CAEM professor Yao-Jan Wu, received a funding commitment of $6.5 million from the Arizona Department of Transportation.

We couldn’t achieve our goals without the collaboration and dedication of every staff and faculty member in the college,” said Hahn.
